Padding Out promoted awareness about the health and social needs of people who menstruate. The project worked to make period management accessible. People of various ages, cultural backgrounds, and gender identities became involved in discussions about menstruation, poverty and the environment. Inter-generational knowledge was generously shared and participants acquired skills and confidence centering reproductive health in the Padding Out Sew Ups.
Whilst specifically targeting menstrual management in marginalised communities,
participants were encouraged to see the potential to diversify their skills and consider
becoming small entrepreneurs, making pads to sell or trade.
